Children in Bulgaria are placed on a registry (list) for 6 months while Bulgarian officials work to place the children domestically. After six months the children are eligible for an international placement. The child referral you receive through Gladney will have completed their time on the registry in Bulgaria, and is therefore ready to be adopted. Some of these children are involved in the " Grandmother From The Heart " Program.

Types of Children in Bulgaria:

• Most children are of Roma ethnicity or Turkish descent. Adoptive parents cannot request ethnicity.
• Currently, children ages two to five years old are available.
• Toddlers available between eighteen months and three years; however the wait is much longer.
• Both boys and girls are available.

There is always a need for families interested in adopting special needs children. The wait time for these children will be significantly shorter. These are children with non-correctible or major correctible medical issues.
